Healthy Respect is a network of organisations and services dedicated to young people living in Lothian. It works to support young people to enjoy healthy and respectful relationships.
What does Healthy Respect do?
We want young people to be able to get free, accurate and confidential information and advice about anything to do with sexual health and relationships. To make this happen:
- We make sure there are young people friendly health drop-ins locally that are designed for young people’s needs.
- We provide information about sexual health and relationships through this website, leaflets, posters and sometimes through advertising campaigns.
- We work to ensure that young people get good sexual health and relationships education in school and youth clubs. To do this, we provide training and resources for teachers, social workers, youth workers and other professionals.
- We tell others how important it is for young people to have access to information and services that are right for them – especially when it comes to their sexual health and relationships. Some people don’t find it easy to talk about young people’s sexual health, but we recognise it as an important part of every person’s wellbeing.
- We undertake research to find out what young people need, and how they can be supported.
What is Healthy Respect like?
Healthy Respect is here to support young people to enjoy healthy and respectful relationships
Network: It can be helpful to think of Healthy Respect as an entry point into a wider network of services and resources for young people. So wherever they see the Healthy Respect logo, they can get quality information and advice from professionals who will treat them with respect.
Quality beacon: Healthy Respect wants all young people to have access to accurate information and services that are of a high standard. The Healthy Respect drop-ins operate all I want-LIVE standards (based on what young people told us they wanted from services), and we make sure all leaflets and advertising campaigns are well researched to meet young people’s needs.
